Job summary

City of Salida in Salida, CO, is seeking a part-time, seasonal Recreation Program Instructor for Youth Wrestling. You will develop curriculum, lead instructional sessions, and supervise part-time staff while coordinating with the Recreation Supervisor and parks department.

The role requires at least one year of instructional experience, comfort working with diverse groups, and strong organizational skills. Hours vary, including some evenings and weekends, with duties aligned to city recreation

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fundamentals and techniques of specified program, class, or activity.
• Ability to make necessary decisions to ensure safe and well-run program.
• Comfortable working with people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
• Possess highly developed organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and teach a specified recreational program, event, or class.
• Develop curriculum and instruction plan to achieve established objectives.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of part time and seasonal personnel.
• Schedule facilities to host programs, leagues, and events and supervise condition of facilities and/or follow predetermined schedule.
• Monitor registration through the SmartRec recreation software.
• Communicate relevant program and league information with participants and personnel.
• Provide instruction and guidance to participants in a specified recreational program, class, or activity.
• Execute instructional plans using prescribed teaching methods and coach groups or individuals.
• Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all participants.
• Follow facility rules, policies, safety standards, and procedures.
• Evaluate participant progress and recommend improvements.
