Job summary

The Missouri Valley Family YMCA in Bismarck, ND is seeking a part-time Volleyball Official to support youth programs and community recreation. You will officiate games, promote safe play, and help participants with rules, scoring, and fair competition.

We value caring, honesty, respect and responsibility; previous playing, coaching, or officiating experience is preferred. This role includes seasonal shifts from September 14th to December 19th, with additional volunteer opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience playing, coaching or officiating sport(s) applicable to session(s).
• Ability to handle competing demands and maintain control of games.
• Desire to work with young children.

Responsibilities

• Officiates volleyball games using an approach that promotes skill development in support of the YMCA mission and goals.
• Demonstrates proper technique and terminology of sport. Provides effective information and support to participants.
• Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants, parents and volunteer coaches; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures. Assures safety of participants by enforcing YMCA game and building guidelines. Responds immediately and appropriately to unexpected situations and emergencies.
