Willamalane Park and Recreation District is seeking a part-time Youth Tumbling Instructor to lead classes across skill levels. The role involves planning curricula, demonstrating techniques, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for participants.
Responsibilities include maintaining records, coordinating with the Recreation Coordinator, and providing excellent customer service. Applicants should have First Aid/CPR certifications and be able to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.

An employee in this classification is responsible for preparing and instructing specified classes and sessions. Work is performed under the supervision of a supervisor who reviews work primarily on the basis of direct observation and feedback from participants. Instructors work closely with Recreation Coordinator on planning, development, class evaluation and implementation. Supervision is not a responsibility of position in this classification.

Considerable knowledge in specified area of focus for continued education and skill building; effective classroom management; safety and sanitation guidelines. Principles of group dynamics and group interaction and emergency procedures and accident site management.
Instruct and demonstrate competency in specified field; effectively communicate class curriculum with students. Follow and give instructions in a courteous and professional manner. Interpret, explain, follow and apply District policies, keep accurate records and establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other staff members, program participants and the general public.
Communicate directions/ instructions both verbally and by demonstration; observe and individually monitor students; modify activities for individual needs; ability to provide good customer service in challenging situations. Ability to administer First Aid and CPR and follow emergency procedures. Identify and prevent hazards and maintain safe environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, bend, kneel and stoop. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted on a regular basis such as storing, setting up and cleaning up equipment and supplies. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period. One year of experience working closely with children and the public; OR any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties.
Two years of experience working closely with children and the public; OR any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties. Spanish speaking preferred; a bilingual rate adjustment is contingent upon passing a proficiency test.
Possession of or ability to obtain current First Aid and CPR/ AED certificates and other certifications as required prior to start date. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Morning, evenings, and weekends, from 0-15 hours per week

Willamalane Park and Recreation District determines starting pay based on the applicant's relevant education, experience and training within the wage and salary range for the position. This process is consistent with Oregon pay equity laws.
