Job summary

ANTs (America's Next Talented Stars) seeks part-time Youth Tennis Coaches for Walnut Creek after-school programs for Fall 2026. No prior coaching experience is required—we train all coaches. You will lead or assist weekly sessions at local elementary schools, with a schedule primarily on Mondays and Thursdays in the 2:15–3:35pm window.

Season runs Sept–Dec 2026 (10–14 weeks); $30–35 per hour, 2–6 hours weekly. Training, equipment, and support provided.

Qualifications

• No prior coaching experience required; training provided.
• Must pass Federal/State Background Check and TB test.
• Flexible schedule during Fall 2026 season (Sept–Dec).
• Compensation is hourly, $30–$35.
• Reliable transportation helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead a fun & safe weekly tennis practice for kids ages 5-10.
• Teach the FUNdamentals of tennis through a game-filled lesson plan. Training provided.
• Arrive on time for each practice and attend orientation training.
• Interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff.
• Set up before and clean up after each class.
• Transport coaching equipment to/from class each week.

We seek passionate & committed part-time Youth Tennis Coaches in Walnut Creek for the Fall 2026 season! Make a positive difference in America's youth by coaching youth tennis after-school programs. No previous coaching experience is required - we train all coaches. Do you love working with youth, teaching sports and wellness, and helping others improve? As a Youth Tennis Coach with ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars), you'll lead or assist a weekly after-school sports program at one or more of our Walnut Creek area elementary school communities.

Our Fall season runs from September-December 2026 (must be available for the entire season). Great coaches will receive offers to work in future seasons. Time commitment is 2-6 hours per week, depending on how many classes you teach.

ANTS Tennis-Specific Schedule for Walnut Creek, Fall 2026: Mondays, 2:15-3:35pm Thursdays, 2:15-3:35pm. Classes are held at Walnut Creek elementary schools. There is potential to add on additional days through other sports classes. Please only apply if you are available to coach in Walnut Creek on Mondays and Thursdays at the above times. Other sports include soccer, flag football, and basketball.

We provide all necessary training, equipment, and support. Being an ANTS Coach is a great way to learn to coach sports while serving our community. ANTS partner schools & communities are located in Walnut Creek. Classes will run at community parks, tennis courts, and elementary schools. Join our team!

Coach Responsibilities

• Lead a fun & safe weekly tennis practice for kids ages 5-10
• Teach the FUNdamentals of tennis through a cohesive and game-filled lesson plan. Training provided!
• Ensure a safe and reliable program by arriving on time each week on your program day for the entire season.
• Attend an orientation training in person
• Interact positively with parents, teachers, and school staff
• Set up before and clean up after your program
• Transport all sports coaching equipment to/from class each week

Locations

This position will coach at 2-3 of our ANTS partner elementary schools in Walnut Creek. Schedule Classes occur on the same day each week for a 10 to 14-week season. Classes are held in the afternoon between 2-4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 1pm-4pm on Wednesday. Classes typically last for 1 hour. Tennis-specific Schedule for Walnut Creek, Fall 2026: Mondays, 2:15-3:35pm Thursday, 2:15-3:35pm. Classes are held at Walnut Creek elementary schools. *There is potential to add on additional days through other sports classes.

Transportation

Coaches must have reliable transportation to their coaching sites. You may be required to bring equipment to & from class, so a vehicle is very helpful.

Responsible & professional

Arrive on time to each practice and keep accurate attendance. Interact with parents and school staff positively.

Communication

Have strong communication skills. You will communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff through email and phone.

Patience

Be a patient person who understands young children & their need to develop at their own pace.

Experience

Experience as a player or coach (at least two years) is highly valuable, though optional.

Background check

A successful candidate must pass a Federal and state Background Check and/or FBI Fingerprinting (Livescan) and test negative for TB test (within the last 4 years).

Flexible Schedule

Ability to work for a few hours in the afternoon while maintaining school and other commitments.

Competitive hourly pay

Coach ongoing support and training. Gain experience in early childhood sports education. Pay: $30-35/hourly
