Job summary

ADAMS AND ASSOCIATES INC in Reno, NV is seeking an On-Call Youth Technician to provide basic care at Kids Kottage. The role includes feeding, bathing, dressing, helping with schoolwork, preparing meals, and maintaining a welcoming home-like environment.

You will also help with transportation, clothing, laundry, and recreational activities while participating in training such as CPR, First Aid, and restraint certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of college or an equivalent combination of education and experience working with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children and youth.
• Mental and physical ability to safely and compassionately work with children.
• Dependability, patience, sound judgment, and a team-oriented attitude.
• Willingness and ability to work in an on-call capacity and respond to the needs of Kids Kottage.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic care, including feeding, bathing, diapering, dressing, and other personal-care needs.
• Support children with schoolwork and educational activities.
• Create and maintain a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere.
• Provide routine and emergency transportation when needed.
• Welcome incoming children by issuing clothing and personal-care items.
• Wash, fold, sort, and organize children’s clothing and Kids Kottage linens.
• Prepare, cook, and serve meals and snacks.
• Plan and participate in educational, recreational, and developmental activities.
• Listen to children, provide informal counseling, model positive behavior, and support behavior management.
• Set appropriate limits and provide fair, consistent discipline.
• Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations, including summoning emergency assistance when necessary.
• Participate in Shelter cleaning, organization, and routine maintenance.
• Complete required training, including CPR, First Aid, and restraint certification.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Clearances and Certifications

Employment is contingent upon meeting applicable licensing, health, and safety requirements, including:

• Qualification as a Direct Care Staff Member (DCSM) through Washoe County Human Services Foster Care Licensing.
• TB testing.
• Drug screening, including marijuana screening.
• Background investigation.
• Reference checks.
• Required training and immunizations.
• Washoe County Health Department certification.
• CPR and First Aid training.
• Restraint certification.
