Job summary

Preble County YMCA in Eaton, OH seeks a Youth Sports Official for part-time, non-exempt work, with a wage of $11.00-$13.20 per hour. Evening and weekend shifts are required. You will officiate youth and adult programs, uphold safety, and model fair play.

As a member of our team, you will prepare facilities, enforce sport rules, assist with equipment setup and teardown, and promote positive experiences for YMCA members and participants through strong leadership and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• High School diploma preferred.
• Six months or more of related officiating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors play to oversee safety and enforce sport rules.
• Ensures gym areas are ready for games and equipment is set up.
• Sets up and tears down equipment as needed before start times.
• Communicates and enforces rules with leadership during games.

Position Summary:

Responsible for officiating excellent and safe youth and adult programs to YMCA members and program participants in Sports programs.

Essential Functions:

• Monitors play to oversee the safety of players and ensurethe particular sport’s and YMCA rules are followed.
• Ensures the gym(s) are ready for games with physical setting and equipment.
• Sets up and tears down all equipment needed for play prior to start up time.
• Communicates and enforces sports rules effectively while providing leadership during all games according to the YMCA policy.
• Maintains cleanliness of the gym area.
• Builds relationships with members and program participants.
• Ensures safety by communicating and enforcing any rules, policies and guidelines at participants’ comprehension level.
• Ensures safety by checking for hazardous conditions and making sure all safety equipment is properly placed and in proper working condition.
• Follows all sports program rules, dress code, policies and guidelines.
• Tracks and posts league standings.
• Posts schedules and events promptly prior to the league or event date.
• Ensures all sports program information is communicated in writing to the Program Director, Membership Director, and Front Desk Staff in an accurate and timely manner.
• Creates new ways to promote sports through new corporate leagues, tournaments, camps, etc.
• Creates an atmosphere that is based on fair play and incorporates it in a manner that is both demonstrative and professional.
