Job summary

i9 Sports is seeking a Youth Soccer Instructor & Official in Leesburg for weekend shifts to teach fundamental skills, officiate games, and guide practices in a safe, fun environment.

You will collaborate with volunteer parent coaches, lead age-appropriate drills, and ensure fair play while upholding league rules throughout the season across Leesburg and nearby locations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental soccer skills using provided plans.

About The Job

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Soccer Instructor & Official to join our team and play a pivotal role in the development of young soccer players.

In this dual role, you will be responsible for teaching fundamental soccer skills, officiating games, facilitating practices, and ensuring a fun, safe, and educational experience for all participants. You will work alongside our volunteer parent coaches to make sure every child learns the game in a positive, high‑energy environment.

Schedule & Locations

Saturday shifts only.

  • Locations: Leesburg, Ashburn, South Riding, Purcellville
  • Upcoming Fall League: Sept 12 – Oct 17 (make‑up dates through Nov 1)
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach fundamental soccer skills—dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending—using practice plans provided by i9 Sports.
  • Implement age‑appropriate drills and exercises, providing encouraging, constructive feedback.
  • Serve as the primary on‑field official/referee for youth matches, ensuring fair play and adherence to league rules.
  • Maintain a professional, authoritative but approachable demeanor, handling rule explanations and on‑field situations with diplomacy and patience.
  • Prioritize safety and emotional well‑being of all participants—ensure proper equipment, supervise practices, and address any field‑condition concerns.
  • Supervise and manage groups of young athletes, fostering a positive, structured, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Maintain open, professional communication with parents, participants, and staff; act as a mentor to volunteer parent coaches.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience coaching, playing, or officiating soccer.
  • Strong understanding of soccer rules, field positioning, and standard gameplay regulations.
  • High patience, high energy, positive attitude, and excellent problem‑solving skills under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills—confidently interacting with children, motivating volunteer coaches, and addressing parent feedback.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Reliable personal vehicle/transportation.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Extremely reliable, punctual, and committed to working consecutive weekends for the season, including potential make‑up dates.
