Job summary

People Incorporated is a human service agency serving the Southcoast community, including Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton areas. The Skills Trainer provides 1:1 assistance and direct skills instruction for youth in the DESE/DDS program, working in the family home and community when appropriate.

Hours vary between 3-6 hours per week depending on individual needs. The role focuses on developing ADLs and IADLs, helping with daily living skills, and accompanying participants to community

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or relevant experience with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Comfort working in home and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with family members and professionals in care and training.
• Follow the behavior plan to teach needed skills.
• Work in home to develop daily living skills, including ADLs and IADLs.
• Plan and provide support for community activities tailored to strengths and interests.
• Understand and support program goals.
• Provide transportation for the individual when needed.
• Document activities and progress toward goals.
• Respond to meetings and information requests from supervisor.
• Access and read Agency email and Intranet weekly.
