BCFS is seeking a Youth Skills Coach to recruit students and facilitate both curricular and non-curricular PHSR programming, YLD curricula, and assist with the YAC. The role primarily provides programming offsite in collaboration with local community partners.

The position requires 2 years working with youth (ages 6-17), an associate degree in a related field, and flexibility to work evenings/weekends while maintaining program quality and inclusivity, under TBRI and Positive Youth Development

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required in a related field.
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education or human services.
  • 2 years of experience working with youth aged 6-17.
  • Must maintain First Aid and CPR certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain community partners and youths for Youth Leadership Development (YLD) and PHSR curricula.
  • Facilitate curricula to youth in community groups and BCFS offices.
  • Complete intake assessments and pre-/post-tests.
  • Create welcoming, inclusive environments for all participants.
  • Participate in Community Strengths and Needs Assessment; distribute surveys and analyze data.
  • Apply Positive Youth Development framework and Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) strategies.
  • Work evenings and weekends to meet participant needs.
  • Train in and facilitate additional curricula (violence prevention, independent living skills, substance use prevention).
  • Maintain BCFS HHS standards and dress code; collaborate with staff and youth respectfully.
  • Travel as needed; comply with grant requirements.

It's a great feeling to work for a company that does so much good for others around the world!Education: Required – Associate’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field.Preferred – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in one of the following areas: social work, psychology, education or any human services field.Experience: Required – 2 years of experience working with youth aged 6-17 years old.Supervises: Mentors and other volunteers as needed.Job Summary: The Youth Skills Coach is responsible for recruiting students and facilitating both curricular and non-curricular PHSR programming, YLD curricula, and assisting with the YAC. This position will primarily provide programming offsite in collaboration with our local community partners, to include facilitating curricula and ancillary services.Essential Functions:1. Recruit and retain community partners and the youth they serve, to participate in Youth Leadership Development curriculum, PHSR curriculum - including life skills and non curricular programming - and ancillary services.2. Facilitate the above listed curricula to youth in community-based groups and within the BCFS offices.3. Complete intake assessments and pre- and post-tests required by the program.4. Ensure a welcoming and deliberately inclusive environment for all participants.5. Participate in the annual Community Strengths and Needs Assessment process, including distributing surveys, facilitating focus groups and interviews, providing direct feedback, and compiling/analyzing program data.6. Continuously abide by Positive Youth Development framework principles.7. Continuously employ Trust Based Relational Intervention strategies.8. Frequently works evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of student participants.9. Train in and facilitate other program curricula, including violence prevention, independent living skills development and substance use prevention content10. Maintain BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in the employee handbook, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, youth, and community members, and always complying with required dress code.Measurable Deliverables:1. Meet or exceed enrollment numbers and meeting frequency (either in-person or virtuallywhen approved) specified by the grant.2. Maintain 95% quality assurance compliance, including timely and accurate data entry, curricula and TBRI fidelity adherence, form completion, budget adherence/financial reporting, and other reporting as required by the program.3. Maintain 85% or more positive youth satisfaction survey scores.4. 90% or more of youth instructed by this position demonstrate increased knowledge following life skills instruction.5. 90% or more of youth instructed by this position demonstrate attitudinal changefollowing life skills instruction.6. 100% of youth participating in programming remain safe and do not participate in delinquent behavior while receiving services.7. Demonstrate the ability to:a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.b. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.c. Work in a fast-paced environment.d. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.e. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.f. Travel as needed.8. Other job duties as assigned per grant requirements.Requirements:1. Maintain certificates required for the position including but not limited to First Aid and CPR.2. Valid Texas Driver’s license with a clear driving record and reliable transportation.3. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens.4. Provide proof or work eligibility status upon request.5.
