Job summary

State of Missouri, Division of Youth Services, seeks a Social Services Aide/Community Mentor to work with youth in day treatment and residential programs. You will transport youth, provide guidance, tutoring, and help build constructive relationships in a safe, therapeutic environment.

This is a part-time, hourly position with no benefits. A valid driver's license is required; previous youth-work experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and family roles.
• Ability to communicate with adolescent clients.
• Understanding of juvenile delinquency causes and treatment methods.
• Empathetic and understanding interactions with youths.
• Effective communication with clients, families and staff.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Transport youth to school, appointments, and activities in a state vehicle.
• Spend time with youth to build constructive relationships and provide structure.
• Provide extra contact for high-risk youth.
• Monitor clients during home visits from facility.
• Serve as a positive role model and support system.
