Job summary

Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District is seeking a part-time Youth Services staff member who loves working with young children and their families. The ideal candidate will deliver friendly, respectful service and assist with reference and readers advisory from the reference desk.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing Youth Services programs, helping patrons with computers and the online catalog, and keeping the youth area neat and welcoming.

Qualifications

• LTA certificate or related associate degree preferred.
• At least 1 year experience in library, education, or non-profit preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, respectful and accurate service to all users.
• Reference and readers advisory assistance at the reference desk regularly.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Youth Services programs.
• Instruct and assist patrons with use of computers, electronic resources, and the online catalog.
• Maintain neatness of the youth services department including interactive areas, collection shelves, displays and work areas.
