Job summary

SEARHC is seeking a dedicated professional to provide strength-based behavioral health interventions for youth using the Teaching Family Model. You will implement treatment plans, teach essential life skills, and maintain structured therapeutic environments.

The role requires flexibility for 24/7/365 shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Training is provided for certifications and ongoing professional development under SEARHC supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• QAP certification or ability to obtain within 3 years of hire, funded by SEARHC.
• Must achieve Teaching Family Certification within 1 year of hire.
• BLS within 45 days of hire; training provided.
• First Aid within 45 days of hire; training provided.
• Current Alaska Driver’s License; must be 21+ years old.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health interventions using the Teaching Family Model.
• Teach skill development: effective communication, positive social interaction, problem solving, anger management.
• Maintain program structure and provide therapeutic limits.
• Demonstrate problem-solving, active listening, and de-escalation of aggression.
• Document daily progress notes meeting agency/state/federal standards.
• Collaborate with SEARHC and community entities and engage clients therapeutically.

Pay Range:$25.00 - $30.04

This position is responsible for providing strength-based treatment and behavioral interventions according to the Teaching Family Model and the individualized treatment plans for youth experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties

This position works days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Shifts rotate.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Using the Teaching Family Model, provide behavioral health interventions and teach skill development including effective communication, positive social interaction, problem solving, decision making, and anger management to families, individual clients and groups as defined in the treatment plans.

Maintain consistent program and activity structure. Provide therapeutic limits.

Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills and good active listening.

Use approved strategies to prevent aggressive behavior and to deescalate volatile situations.

Demonstrate basic understanding of co-occurring disorders and the interrelationship of substance abuse and mental health.

Utilize teaching techniques and interventions according to the Teaching Family Model and other common treatment modalities and effectively engage the clients within the treatment process.

Understand, utilize, teach and implement motivational systems.

Plan, supervise and document daily activities that meet therapeutic goals.

Provide ongoing monitoring and interventions to ensure client safety and immediately inform supervisor of any crisis or unsafe situation.

Document daily progress notes in a timely manner, which meet agency standards and state and federal regulations.

Must be able to engage in moderate physical recreational activities that support recovery.

Establish and engage in professional collaboration within SEARHC and relevant community entities.

Other duties as assigned to meet program, clinic, departmental and organizational goals.

Shifts are 24/7. This includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Details:

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) certification or ability to obtain within 3 years of hire. All training for the QAP certification process will be

provided

and funded by SEARHC.

Must achieve the Teaching Family Certification within 1 year of hire (RSS working solely overnight shifts are exempt from this requirement.)

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 45 days of hire. Training will be provided.

First Aid

within 45 days of hire. Training will be provided.

Current and valid state of Alaska Driver’s License.

Must be at least 21 years of age

Experience Required

Preferred - 1 year of experience working with emotionally and/or behaviorally disturbed youth.

Be sensitive to the unique needs of emotionally and behaviorally disturbed clients and their families.

Follow written protocols from medical, supervisory, and clinical personnel.

Learn, understand, and implement professional boundaries.

Maintain confidentiality.
