Job summary

City of Amarillo is seeking a Library Assistant to support youth services, help patrons, and lead literacy programs. You will assist youth with finding materials, conduct storytimes, and support outreach under the Youth Services Coordinator.

The role requires evening and weekend work, strong customer service, and accuracy in recordkeeping. At least ninety credit hours are required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred; prior library experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Successful candidates will have completed at least ninety college semester hours.
• Knowledge of basic computer applications is required.
• Completion of a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist youth and adults in locating books, films, and information.
• Develop and implement youth programs and outreach under the Youth Services Coordinator.
• Lead storytimes and literacy-based activities.
• Maintain patron records and prepare program reports.
