Job description

Since our founding in 2004, Interfaith Philadelphia has challenged people across sectors to dare to understand one another. Our bold vision is to have our region reflect the vibrancy of a religiously diverse democracy, one in which all people are valued, distinctive traditions are welcomed, and people of diverse backgrounds collaborate to shape a just and compassionate society.

Interfaith Philadelphia is seeking a Youth Programs intern who is passionate about grassroots community work and helping youth learn how to build and strengthen interpersonal relationships with individuals from different backgrounds and traditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and execution of online and/or in-person youth programs such as: Customized School Programs, Alternative Spring Break, Passport to Understanding and more.
  • Maintain class rosters, organize participant files, and handle basic data entry.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with IP partners to gather insight on student and community needs, feedback on programs, and provide tailored support to the Youth Programs Director.
  • Support the development of communications materials for students, families, school partners, community partners, and stakeholders. This may include drafting email communications, newsletters, announcements, presentations, event invitations, promotional messaging, and other materials that support regional and national HealthCorps initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Education Status: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities and a positive attitude toward working with kids and families.
  • Requirements: Ability to pass mandatory background checks or childcare clearances.

Interns can also expect individual mentoring from Interfaith Philadelphia staff and board members who will help interns to build professional skills such as communication, relationship-building, leadership, project management, teamwork, persuasive writing, and personal impact development.

Interfaith Philadelphia operates in a hybrid format, meeting in person on Mondays and Tuesdays and virtually on Wednesdays through Fridays. Interfaith Philadelphia is able to offer a small stipend to our interns, but we also encourage applicants to seek outside funding sources. We are happy to help interns earn course credit or develop an independent study program through their college or university.
