Job summary

Child & Family Service in Hawaii is seeking a Specialist I for after-school program operations in Ewa Beach. You will plan, coordinate, lead sessions, and plan field trips, while maintaining safety and crisis guidelines.

Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, 2–4 years of experience, strong communication, cultural competency, driver's license, and willingness to travel across the island are required; CPR/First Aid training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate and coordinate groups of individuals for engaging group activities.
• Experience providing one-on-one support to students facing academic challenges, behavioral issues, or personal struggles.
• Basic understanding and competency regarding Hawaiian host culture and various cultures represented in Hawaii.
• Respond to crises, such as emotional distress, bullying, or emergencies, and provide appropriate support and referrals to ensure students' safety and well-being.
• Collaborating with parents, teachers, and community providers, as well as good writing skills for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate after school activities and run sessions; facilitate games and activities.
• Plan field trips and coordinate transportation.
• Maintain safety and follow crisis intervention guidelines.
• Lead family engagement activities and transport youth as needed.
• Develop individualized service plans with youth and families.
• Coordinate with community resources to provide cultural programming.
• Provide information and referrals to families for additional services.
• Conduct outreach island-wide to identify partnerships and participants.
• Work cooperatively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
