Description du poste

Why RAW?

At Raw Art Works (RAW), we believe that all young people should be seen + heard, and that everyone has a story to tell. Rooted in art therapy, our creative community arts organization empowers youth through the arts, giving them tools to process what is happening in their lives and to envision new possibilities for their future. Our mission is to ignite the desire to create and the confidence to succeed in underserved youth.

Founded in 1988, RAW fosters an inclusive, trauma-informed environment where young people can express themselves and build strong relationships with peers and staff. Today, more than 350 youth ages 8 to 19 take part in after-school and summer visual and expressive arts groups, digital film school classes, leadership development opportunities, and college and career access programming in Lynn. RAW staff have helped lead the creative youth development movement since its inception, and RAW is recognized nationally for its program impact.

About the Position

RAW seeks a steady, welcoming presence at its front desk and building entrance during program hours. This unarmed role helps youth, families, visitors, and staff feel safe and respected through entry monitoring, calm responses to concerns, and relationship building.

  • Employment: Temporary, grant-funded, non-exempt, from hire through June 30, 2027. RAW hopes to continue the position beyond that date, but an extension depends on future funding and is not guaranteed.
  • Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per scheduled week, Monday-Friday, approximately 3-7 p.m.
  • Sign-on bonus: $500, paid in two installments: $250 after starting employment and $250 after 90 days of employment. Written payment terms will be provided before hire.
  • Unpaid Program Breaks: You will not work or receive pay during designated non-program weeks or RAW closure days, including Thanksgiving week, two weeks around the winter holidays, and the February and April program breaks. The approximately 20-hour schedule applies only to scheduled working weeks. RAW will review the calendar with candidates during hiring.
  • Additional hours: Occasional extra hours or event coverage may be available depending on need and funding, but are not guaranteed.
  • Reports to: Deputy Director.
Key Responsibilities

You will be a consistent, trusted presence for everyone who comes through RAW's doors. Your work will include:

  • Welcome youth, families, visitors, and staff, building trust while monitoring building entry.
  • Follow youth arrival, dismissal, and pickup procedures, including confirming authorized adults.
  • Recognize safety concerns and respond calmly to individuals in distress, using de-escalation and seeking support when needed.
  • Follow emergency procedures and coordinate with staff, police, or behavioral health resources as appropriate.
  • Document incidents promptly, share concerns and patterns with the Deputy Director, and work closely with program staff.
Qualifications & Experience

This role calls for someone who can stay calm in a difficult moment and still make every young person feel welcome. We are looking for:

  • Relevant training or experience in unarmed security, de-escalation, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, or a related setting
  • Comfort working around young people in a community-based setting
  • A calm, steady demeanor under pressure, with strong judgment in high-stress situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with program staff
  • Alignment with RAW's values of well-being, creativity, and community, and a genuine interest in supporting young people
  • Reliable availability Monday through Friday, approximately 3-7 p.m., during scheduled program weeks
  • Successful completion of CORI and SORI background checks is required as a condition of employment
You'll Stand Out If You Have
  • Experience working in schools, youth-serving organizations, or community-based nonprofits
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practice, or a willingness to be trained in it
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
  • Experience building trust with youth and families across cultures, languages, and lived experiences, and familiarity with Lynn's communities

We know that strong candidates sometimes hold back unless they meet every listed qualification. If this role excites you and your experience does not line up perfectly, we still encourage you to apply.
