Job summary

Brighter Days TX is hiring a Youth Prevention Specialist to work with children and youth (ages 5-17) and families to deliver evidence-based programs such as CBSG, Positive Action, and Strengthening Families. The role includes presenting on Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Use, offering mental and behavioral health resources, and conducting tobacco compliance checks throughout Dallas County.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, counseling, or education preferred; experience may substitute for education.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience with children and youth from underserved communities; school/nonprofit experience a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.
• Must have own transportation, valid license, and auto liability insurance.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, substance use prevention, mental health promotion, and adolescent development.
• Ability to obtain ACPS/APS/CPS designation within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates evidence-based curricula weekly at schools, shelters, and community sites.
• Conducts prevention presentations for children, youth, and adults.
• Assesses needs, provides referrals, and supports community information events.
• Coordinates logistics for service sites and maintains participant documentation.
• Travels daily across Dallas County and works in schools, shelters, or community settings.
