Job summary

Comcareme in Maine seeks a Peer Support Specialist to provide one-on-one peer support to youth using the Peer Connect curriculum and to help youth create comfortable settings. The role requires travel across the region, including rural areas, and linking youth with needed resources.

You will train to Maine Peer Connect certification, participate in workshops, document all interactions promptly, and support educational or vocational goals with appropriate referrals.

Qualifications

• Must be 18–26 years old and have lived experience with Severe Emotional Disturbance or Severe Mental Illness.
• Must have a valid State of Maine driver’s license and a registered, insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Attend Peer Connect training to become Maine Peer Connect certified within the agency’s timeline and maintain certification.
• Provide one-on-one peer support to youth using the Peer Connect curriculum in settings chosen by the youth.
• Travel to various areas across the region to deliver services, including rural areas.
• Link youth with resources, assist with referrals and accessing services as requested.
• Maintain office hours during peer support drop-in times at multiple locations.
• Collaborate with YPSSN to facilitate workshops and coordinate speakers.
• Record contact attempts within 24 hours and document all youth interactions within 24 hours.
• Document all YPSSN activities on the tracking tool and assist with surveys when requested.
• Participate in agency meetings and supervision sessions.
• Support youth in educational/vocational goals, connecting with MV Liaison or employment agencies.
