Job summary

Wellpoint Care Network seeks a Peer/Support Advisor in Milwaukee, WI to partner with the SIL team, advocate for youth, and provide peer support grounded in shared experiences. The role emphasizes flexible scheduling to match youth needs and opportunities for community engagement.

This full-time, non-exempt position focuses on empowering youth toward independence, with coaching and guidance to help them navigate housing, resources, and relationships.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three to five years’ experience in child and family welfare.
• Experience with and/or as a youth in foster care required.
• Experience engaging with community groups and representatives preferred.
• Ability to engage others in conversation and information sharing.
• Ability to share lived experience with youth who may share similar experiences.
• Advocacy and communicating with large groups.

Responsibilities

• Meet face to face or virtually with program youth to create peer connections in their homes and the community.
• Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate youth availability, including weekends.
• Share lived experiences to guide youth to resources and supports in the community.
• Assist program youth in self-advocacy with landlords and employers; address concerns respectfully.
• Introduce youth to the Youth Advisory Council and encourage participation in meetings and events.
• Provide coaching and modeling for youth to communicate concerns effectively.
• Invite new SIL Youth to join YAC or engage in activities.
• Assist with youth transitions and movement within or out of the SIL program within 60 days.
• Seek new resources in the community to build a network of caring connections.
• Support community events to engage eligible youth.
