Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced childcare professional for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on nurturing great minds, engaging children, and connecting with families within our community.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent, thrive in a fun, diverse environment, and can pass required background checks and trainings. The site will be determined during interviews; rewards include a free YMCA membership and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or enrollment in 2+ years of child development coursework.
• 2+ years verified child care experience.
• Prior experience working with children (professional, volunteer, or familial).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and keep up to date on trainings including 6 hours of child care trainings annually.

Responsibilities

• Find engaging ways to help kids learn while maintaining a safe, supportive environment.
• Implement curriculum with developmentally appropriate learning experiences; may supervise classroom staff.
• Provide quality adult/child interactions with positive feedback and open-ended questions.
• Use positive reinforcement for behavior management and redirection.
• Communicate with parents/guardians in a timely, respectful manner.
• Maintain attendance records, emergency contacts, allergy reports, and required documentation.
• Keep learning centers well-stocked and organized with labeled materials.
• Attend monthly or more frequent team planning meetings.
