Job summary

Discovery Ranch South in Cedar City, Utah is seeking a part-time companion/mentor to support teenage students in a therapeutic, experiential setting. Responsibilities include assisting with horseback riding, skiing, hiking, and rock climbing activities while maintaining safety and strong teamwork.

The position requires 19+ years of age, a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to pass background and motor vehicle checks, and a Utah driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 19+ years of age.
• Background check required.
• Motor vehicle record check required.
• Current Utah driver’s license (within 30 days of employment).
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude.
• Good judgment and safety-oriented approach.
• Must adhere to physical demands (walking, running, lifting, hiking, animal activities).
• Must operate under various weather conditions (snow, ice, heat).

Responsibilities

• Help teenage students in a therapeutic setting as they progress on their healing journey.
• Facilitate experiential therapy activities such as horseback riding, skiing, hiking, and rock climbing.
• Support families and empower teenagers as part of the healing journey.
• Work at Discovery Ranch South in Cedar City, UT within a residential treatment environment.

Located near Three Peaks Recreational Park and overlooking Cedar City, Utah, Discovery Ranch South is a relationship-based residential treatment center based in experiential therapy.

Experiential therapy activities include horseback riding, skiing, hiking, and rock climbing. Through these shared experiences, a mentor builds rapport with our students. These relationships are key to the healing process. Often the relationships formed with mentors are the most meaningful to our students and create deep and lasting change.
