Job summary

Rite of Passage Brand is hiring a Youth Mentor at DePaul Academy Residential Facility in South Bend, Indiana. The role focuses on safety, around-the-clock supervision, and delivering individual counseling to youth with mental health and behavioral needs.

You will document behaviors, assist with education and recreational activities, and collaborate with staff to meet each youth's treatment goals. Requires a high school diploma, 21+ years old, and background checks including TB test.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a criminal background check, physical, and TB test.
• Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and around-the-clock in-person supervision of youth at a secure residential facility.
• Address physical, personal, and health needs of each youth through individual counseling and skill development.
• Monitor and document behaviors and activities; participate in educational, social, athletic and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with other staff to establish and meet each youth's treatment goals.

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring for Youth Mentor at DePaul Academy Residential Facility in South Bend Indiana

DePaul Academy, located in the heart of South Bend, Indiana, shares a campus with the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center. DePaul serves young men aged 14-18 who have mental health, substance abuse and/or behavioral needs. Utilizing a strengths-based approach, DePaul provides its youth with access to therapeutic services and diverse social and educational opportunities. Through a blend of evidence-based treatment, academic and extracurricular opportunities, young men are provided a normalized setting that foster a culture of learning, growth, and achievement.

Pay: starting at $20/hour with annual raises of 2%, 4%, or 6% based on performance. Earn a $1,000 Bonus After Successful Completion of Essential Skills Training (within the first 90 Days!)

What you will do: Youth Mentors provide safety and around-the-clock in-person supervision of youth at a secure residential facility. In this role, you will provide for the physical, personal and health needs of each youth through individual counseling and skill development. Youth Services Workers provide an atmosphere that is supportive of the youth’s needs; monitor and document behaviors and activities; and participate and assist with educational, social, athletic and recreational activities. Youth Services Workers collaborate with other professional staff to establish and meet the goals of each youth's treatment plan.

To be considered you should:

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be able to pass a criminal background check, physical, and TB test
• Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry

Schedule: Looking to fill day shifts. Day shift runs from 8:30a to 9p. You will work 7 days in a 2 week pay period which does require working every other weekend.
