Responsibilities

We reward impact with competitive pay and benefits, growth pathways, and transparent communication.Where is this role?Cleveland, Ohio — on-site.Is this you?Do you naturally model professionalism—on time, prepared, and appropriately dressed?Can you motivate students from diverse backgrounds to join in, try new things, and build healthy habits for life and work?Are you calm and composed when conversations get tough, and skilled at de-escalation?Do you love planning events, booking spaces, arranging transportation, and keeping the details tight?What you’ll ownChampion student growth by demonstrating positive social behaviors, timely interventions, and coaching on stress relief and employability skills.Engage in BMS and/or SCC programming to reinforce community standards around conduct, appearance, and behavior.Supervise recreation and fitness activities on site, ensuring inclusive participation and a safe environment for all skill levels.Align self-directed activities with established recreation plans.Remove barriers to full participation by refining processes and procedures.Plan recurring events (basketball, volleyball, softball): schedule, reserve, set up, arrange transportation, collect payments, and share details with participants.Continuously suggest improvements to recreation and physical fitness offerings.Support center-wide/volunteer initiatives through special assignments.Hold one-on-ones to work through day-to-day issues tied to recreation and fitness.Provide practical guidance and solutions without imposing personal values.Ready facilities, equipment, and supplies so activities start on time and run smoothly.Drive government vehicles to and from off-site activities.Make reservations, process fees, and brief students on safety protocols for facilities and equipment.Uphold and enforce all safety rules and regulations.Produce monthly recreation and related reports on schedule.Communicate clearly with students; provide information, conduct inspections, and offer counsel.Promote harmony: identify social/behavioral issues early and partner with center staff when escalation is needed.Teach sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaborative group interaction.Work independently on recurring tasks with minimal oversight.Build rapport—even in hostile exchanges—by staying professional and steady.Motivate students who may resist leadership or direction to participate and engage.Be ready for strenuous physical activity while participating in or instructing group sports.Driving may be required.Other duties as assigned.Performance standardsAdhere to company SOPs and personnel policies.Complete all required training per government and management directives.Deliver assignments on time and within cost expectations.Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students and center staff at all levels.Cultivate positive, collaborative relationships across departments.Ensure work products are accurate and completed on schedule.Engage others respectfully and professionally in varied situations.Follow safety policies and use PPE when required.QualificationsMinimumHigh school diploma or equivalent.1+ year working with youth.Obtain Water Safety training within 90 days of hire.Ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days (if applicable for the position).Obtain and maintain DOT/CDL medical certification (if applicable for the position).Successfully pass and participate in the mandatory DOT/CDL drug and alcohol testing program (if applicable)Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract.Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (or ability to obtain and maintain).PreferredAssociate’s degree in counseling, social work, rehabilitation, education, recreation, or a related discipline.Prior experience in a school or park system recreation program.Current CDL.Work environmentExpect varied settings on and off center with changing noise levels. You’ll engage frequently with site personnel and students via phone, email, and in person. Situations may occasionally be tense; professionalism and teamwork are essential.Physical demandsActive, on-your-feet role: standing for extended periods; walking, running, stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling; clear communication (talking/hearing). Frequent hand use to handle equipment, tools, and controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly lift/move up to 30 lbs and occasionally more.
