Job summary

St. Clair County, MI is seeking an At-Risk Youth Worker to oversee safety and care of youths in the Day Treatment/Night Watch Program or Juvenile Intervention Unit. You will reinforce rules, support education, and assist clinical staff in emotional support and crisis situations.

The role requires reporting on youth progress, incidents, and coordinating with probation and court staff. Applicants should meet education requirements and have 1–3 years of relevant experience with at‑risk youth;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in child development, criminal justice, education, psychology, sociology, social work or related field preferred.
• Associates degree in a related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of responsible work experience; experience with at‑risk youth preferred.
• Equivalent combination of experience, training, or certification may substitute for education.
• Ability to stay calm and manage emergencies; good judgment and problem solving; proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage administrative tasks, document management, records, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Closely supervise youth to ensure safety and order within the program.
• Lead and redirect youth behavior; refer acute problems to staff.
• Assist educational providers with schooling and activities.
• Report suspected abuse or neglect immediately.
• Provide emotional support to youth; assist clinical staff as needed.
• Prepare reports summarizing youth progress, incidents, and other information.
