Job summary

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Health Services team at Eastern Oregon Youth Correctional Facility in Burns. You will provide comprehensive nursing care to support youth health in a secure setting, assess health concerns, respond to emergencies, and coordinate ongoing care.

The position runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:30 pm, with responsibilities spanning medication administration, health education, and medical record maintenance.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse's License at the time of appointment.
• Possess an active CPR card

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat youth with physical or mental health concerns, including developing nursing care plans and providing emergency and first-aid care.
• Provide routine nursing care by carrying out provider orders, evaluating treatment effectiveness, collecting laboratory specimens, and providing health education.
• Administer and manage medications, including assessing allergies, dosages, side effects and drug interactions and maintaining required pharmacy records.
• Maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical records, including documenting patient care, treatment, nursing care plans, appointments and essential health information.
• Support clinic operations and facility safety, including staff training, medical supply and equipment oversight, and maintaining security practices required in a close-custody environment.
