Job summary

The Parkview Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana is seeking a part-time Youth & Government Instructor to lead and facilitate the Youth & Government program. The role focuses on mentoring teens, guiding project work, and coordinating participation in events such as the Statehouse Conference.

The ideal candidate has teaching or related experience, strong communication and organizational abilities, and flexibility to support program activities, transportation, and scheduling needs.

Qualifications

• One year of teaching or related experience preferred.
• Certification by an approved organization in the program area being led, when required.
• Excellent communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.
• An elevated level of organization, flexibility, and ability to handle difficult situations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Connect: Build a strong foundation for teens interested in Youth & Government by engaging, mentoring, and encouraging participants to develop their leadership and civic engagement skills.
• Serve: Encourage teens to explore their creativity and ideas by guiding them through the process of creating a bill to present at the Statehouse Conference, while teaching them the importance of advocacy and civic involvement.
