Job summary

Bexar County seeks a Youth Gardens Educator to plan, implement, and evaluate gardening-based curriculum in classrooms and community organizations, coordinating volunteers to expand outreach.

The role emphasizes Earth Kind gardening, collaboration with Extension Agents, and ongoing program reporting. A bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of youth-program experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Sciences, Social/Behavioral Science or Education, or closely related field with two years of youth-related program experience.
• Strong communication skills with diverse groups; ability to coordinate multiple projects.
• Proficiency in documenting, organizing and recording information; familiarity with word processing, databases or spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Conducts curriculum enrichment in schools and community-based organizations related to gardening and nutrition.
• Uses approved curricula and promotes Earth Kind gardening techniques among participants.
• Facilitates and collects pre and post surveys to evaluate program efficacy.
• Recruits, trains and supports educators and volunteers to strengthen programming efforts.
• Organizes and assists volunteers in planning community-based activities/events.
