Job summary

Saint Dominic's Family Services is seeking a Caregiver/FSS Worker to support children and youth in home and community settings. The role focuses on helping families access resources, advocate for needs, and promote self-sufficiency.

The candidate will educate and train caregivers about available services and supports, with a commitment to inclusivity and safety across developmental, physical, and behavioral needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• SACC or CDOS credential required.
• One year of experience with children/youth in foster care or related human services preferred.
• Lower Hudson Valley: valid driver license required.

Responsibilities

• Engage with families to offer educational, advocacy and support resources to develop family/caregiver’s ability to independently access community series and activities.
• Maintain and encourage the caregivers’/families’ self-sufficiency in caring for the child/youth in the home and community.
• Educate and train the caregiver/family unit on resource availability so they might better support and advocate for the needs of the child and appropriately access needed services.
• Provide guidance in the principles of the children’s chronic condition or life-threatening illness.

Education

High school diploma

High school equivalency (HSE) preferred

SACC/CDOS credential required

Valid driver license (Lower Hudson Valley)
