Job summary

The Basilica of Saint Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Director of Youth Evangelization to build and lead faith-formation programs for 6th–12th graders and coordinate Confirmation preparation. The role also serves as the Rector’s Executive Assistant, handling weddings, sacramental records, and related communications.

Regular full-time position (35 hours/week) with office presence and weekend liturgy attendance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in catechesis and administrative support.
Must be an active member of the Catholic Church with understanding of teaching and mission of the Church.
Leadership abilities in planning, administration, volunteer management; strong interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational skills including time management, delegation, planning, budgeting.

Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, supervise, and execute the Basilica’s faith formation ministries for middle and high school youth (grades 6–12).
Oversee Sacrament of Confirmation preparation for high school students.
Support the Rector as Executive Assistant by managing wedding calendar and correspondence; maintain Sacramental Records and certificates.
Schedule initial meetings with couples; provide administrative support to the Rector.
