Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis invites applications for a full-time Youth Minister to organize and coordinate youth ministry across three parish campuses, with primary focus on high school youth and outreach to younger students in school and PSR programs.

You will collaborate with pastors, parish staff, and volunteers to plan events, retreats, and Eucharistic adoration, recruit a Core Team, and sustain youth formation aligned with Archdiocesan guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
  • Solid understanding of Catholic faith and adherence to Church teachings.
  • Ability to teach and articulate Catholic faith to youth.
  • Leadership experience with youth.
  • Strong organizational skills for planning and executing events.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic liturgical knowledge, including Mass setup.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Compliance with Archdiocesan child safety protocols.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with youth, parents, priests, core team, and parish staff to assess and direct programs.
  • Recruit and form a Core Team of volunteers to lead youth ministry.
  • Coordinate with Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry for resources and guidelines.
  • Plan, promote, and coordinate youth ministry events with pastorate staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of resources for professional development.
  • Invite and lead youth for Life Nights, Luke 18 retreat, and Steubenville.
  • Develop and execute an annual teen retreat opportunity.
  • Plan Encounter evenings of Eucharistic adoration with musicians and speakers.
  • Coordinate with parents and volunteers who support the ministry.
  • Maintain communication with Our Lady School and PSR staff for sacramental prep.
  • Maintain regular presence at Our Lady School.
  • Coordinate Totus Tuus program with volunteers.
  • Encourage and model weekly Mass attendance and reception of the Sacraments.
  • Maintain a relationship with Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry for growth.

Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The full-time position organizes and coordinates the youth ministry efforts of the pastorate. The primary population of engagement are those of high school age, but opportunities for the involvement and formation of younger populations, especially those enrolled in the full-time school and PSR programs, will be expected as well. Collaboration with the Pastor, Parish Life Coordinator, other parish and school staff, and parishioners will be expected as the Youth Minister plans and coordinates events on all three parish campuses.

Job Responsibilities

Administrative and Leadership Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the youth, parents, priests, Core Team, and parish staff in assessing existing Youth Ministry programs and direct future programming
  • Recruit and form a Core Team of volunteers to help lead the Youth Ministry program, modeling Christian friendship and leadership for the teens
  • Collaborate with the Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry to maintain awareness of resources, programs, and guidelines
  • Coordinate and promote Youth Ministry and events in collaboration with pastorate staff
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of resources in youth ministry and opportunities for professional development
  • Invite, gather, and lead the youth for regularly planned programs including, but not limited to, weekly Life Nights, annual Luke 18 retreat and Steubenville conference
  • Develop, promote, and execute an additional, annual retreat opportunity for teens
  • Plan monthly Encounter evenings of Eucharistic adoration by scheduling musicians and speakers, and directing set up
  • Coordinate with parents and parish volunteers who support the ministry
  • Maintain communication with school and PSR staff to assist and plan events for sacramental preparation
  • Maintain a regular (at least once every other week) presence at Our Lady School
  • Serve as Parish Coordinator for the annual Totus Tuus summer program including coordinating, promoting, and gathering youth and adult volunteers
  • Encourage and model weekly Mass attendance and reception of the Sacraments


Networking Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular communication with teens, parents, administrators and campus ministers of area high schools
  • Maintain regular communication with pastorate staff, including those of Our Lady School
  • Establish and maintain regular and appropriate contact and communication with teens and middle school youth, utilizing various means of communication
  • Keep the larger pastorate community up to date on Youth Ministry programs and events
  • Attend other school and extra-curricular activities of pastorate youth when able
  • Maintain a close relationship with the Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry for professional development and ongoing spiritual formation


Fiscal Responsibilities

  • Prepare, develop and manage an annual budget
  • Account for all youth ministry expenses
  • Apply for appropriate donations and grants in support of the youth ministry program
Job Requirements
  • Be an active, practicing, faith-filled Roman Catholic
  • Possess a solid understanding of the Catholic faith and adhere to all the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Be able to teach and articulate the Catholic faith, especially to young people
  • Have leadership experience with youth
  • Possess strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, advertise and execute large events
  • Possess the skills needed to manage a budget
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Possess basic liturgical knowledge, including set up for Mass and Eucharistic adoration
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis
  • Maintain compliance with all Archdiocesan child safety protocols
  • (Preferred): Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/volunteer experience
