Job summary

State of Utah's Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) seeks Youth Development Associate or Specialist to mentor at‑risk youth at a facility in Ogden, Utah. The role involves supervising activities and helping youth develop pro-social, academic and vocational skills.

The ideal candidate has experience with troubled youth and may perform crisis intervention as needed. This in‑office position offers a competitive hourly wage with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Two years of paid work with troubled or at‑risk youth.
• Two years of full‑time education or equivalent combination with experience.
• Youth Development Specialist requires four years of paid work with troubled or at‑risk youth.
• Youth Development Specialist requires four years of full‑time education or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, oversee and work closely with non custody youth.
• May work with high risk/violent youth offenders while covering at a facility.
• Schedule and provide supervision of individual and group activities.
• Assist with teaching pro-social, academic and vocational skills.
• Implement specialized treatment plans.
• Co-facilitate sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner.
• Provide crisis intervention when necessary and participate in the Integrated Crisis Response program.
