Job summary

The Boys And Girls Clubs Of Thurston County is seeking a Teen Coordinator to develop and run engaging programs for grades 6-12 after school. You will recruit participants, mentor teens, and collaborate with staff to ensure successful youth programming.

You will lead educational and recreational activities, ensure a safe, positive environment, and communicate with parents and partners while maintaining high-energy teamwork across the club.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Experience working with youth, parents/guardians, and community partners.
  • Able to work in a busy, high-energy, kid-centric environment.
  • Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required (course may be provided).
  • Pass local and national background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning, marketing, and delivery of educational and recreational programming.
  • Plan and implement programs aligned with Academic Success and Healthy Lifestyles outcomes.
  • Deliver age-appropriate programs for youth in grades 6-12; assist with elementary activities as needed.
  • Supervise areas to promote a safe and positive environment.
  • Maintain a positive club culture with energy, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Promote daily program participation and report outcomes to staff.
  • Maintain relationships with parents, staff, and visitors; model positive behavior.
  • Attend branch staff meetings and mandatory trainings; take on additional tasks as directed.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE:Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm - 6:00pmFriday from 1:00pm - 6:00pmAdditional hours may be available during school breaks (winter, spring & summer)AGE GROUP SERVEDGrades 6-12 (middle & high school)JOB SUMMARYThe Teen Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing engaging and empowering programs tailored to the unique needs of teenagers in the community. This role involves creating a positive and inclusive environment, recruiting participants through outreach efforts, providing mentorship and support, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the success of diverse programs. With a commitment to youth development principles and strong interpersonal skills, the Teen Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering personal growth and positive experiences for teens within the local community.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES• Oversee the planning, marketing, and delivery of educational and recreational programming for Club members.• Plan and implement programs and activities that fall under the Academic Success and Healthy Lifestyles outcome areas for Boys & Girls Club programs, which include but are not limited to, homework help, art projects, and field trips for middle/high school members.• Deliver age-appropriate programs and activities for youth in grades 6-12. Coverage for elementary programs and activities may occur on occasion.• Actively supervise areas to promote a safe and positive environment.• Maintain a positive Boys & Girls Club culture with high energy, strong teamwork, and effective collaboration with other staff.• Promote daily program participation.• Maintain productive relationships with parents, staff, and other visitors to Club.• Model positive behaviors for children and staff.• Attend branch staff meetings and mandatory monthly all-staff trainings.• Assume other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as needed or directed.QUALIFICATIONS• High School Diploma or GED.• At least 21 years of age.• Demonstrated experience working with youth, parents/guardians and/or community partners.• Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.• Excellent communication, written, and interpersonal skills.• Ability to de-escalate problems when present, and problem-solve during day-to-day activities.• Ability to work in a busy, high-energy, kid-centric environment.• Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications (course available upon hire).• Must pass local and national background check and pre-employment drug screening (in accordance with RCW 49.44.240).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Valid driver’s license• Combined experience and/or formal training, where:o Formal training and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.o Experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.o Boys & Girls Club experience• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English, allowing for effective communication with Spanish-speaking clients, partners, and team members.
