Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta is seeking a Youth Development Professional to work with youth in Thomson, GA. The role focuses on academic, athletic, and artistic activities during after-school programs, with afternoons and early evenings Monday through Friday.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years of related experience, and strong communication; they will foster safe, engaging environments and provide guidance to members, volunteers, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to minimum of 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Establish weekly/monthly programs calendar consistent with organizational goals and mission.
• Develop a schedule of programs that will be presented at the site for the week and month and keep staff notebook updated using the youth development report form for each activity conducted.
• Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of programs activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program areas.
• Create an environment that promotes and stimulates program participation.
• Register new members and participate in their club orientation.
• Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
• Effectively implement and administer programs, service and activities for drop-in members.
• Monitor services and activities to ensure the safety of members and maintain the appearance of the facility.
• Ensure the evaluation of the programs on a continual basis and ensure programs/activities respond to members’ needs.
• May participate in special programs and/or events.
• Participate as part of a team to run quality programs by helping where needed or directed, which may include driving the Club van.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is an integralpart of the program team. Hours: Monday- Friday 2-7 PM

KEY ROLES & ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

RELATIONSHIPS

• Internal:Maintainsclose, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues,explainor interpret guidelines/instructions.
• External:Maintainscontact as needed with external community groups, schools, members'parentsand others toassistin resolving problems.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• High School Diploma or GEDrequired

ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS

Daily contact with club staff, club and teen center members, outside organizations and individuals to plan, coordinate and deliver programs. Normal internal office environment. Travel to special events and field trips may be required. Must be able to work daily afternoon/evening hours. Occasional weekend hours may be required to accomplish objectives. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighingin excess of25lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion.
