Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware seeks a Youth Development Professional to support the development and operation of a quality school-age childcare program at North Smyrna Elementary School in Smyrna, DE. The role ensures compliance with Delacare rules for school-age centers and emphasizes safe, age-appropriate activities for children ages 6–12.

The position requires collaboration with the Childcare or Program Director, adherence to licensing requirements, and strong role-model behavior.

Qualifications

• Must have School Age Site Assistant Certificate.
• First Aid/CPR Certification, or completion within two months of hire.
• Must possess a School Age Site Coordinator Certificate from the Department of Education.
• Must possess a School Age Site Coordinator Administrator certificate from the Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering age-appropriate programs reflecting Boys & Girls Club core areas and Youth Development Strategy for children ages 6–12.
• Ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities, including equipment and facilities condition, age-appropriateness, and weather considerations.
• Supervise children within guidelines and in compliance with state licensing regulations.
• Maintain productive relationships with parents, school faculty and staff, and other visitors to the Club.
• Present yourself as a positive role model for children at all times.
• Adhere to BGCDE OCCL and Delaware STARS policies and practices.
• Contribute to developing a positive identity and presence for the Club in the community.
• Perform other tasks as needed or directed.

Each and everyday girls and boys are left to find their own recreation and companionship. An increasing number of kids are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need toknow they have a place in their community where they can go. Clubs provide a safe haven for youth, allow them to meet with friends and be a part of positive peer groups. Club programs teach life skills, conflict resolution and focus on the development of character. Job Summary

Essential Functions

• Assist Childcare orProgram Director in effectively delivering a variety of age-appropriateprograms and activities, which reflect Boys & Girls Club’s five coreprogram areas and Youth Development Strategy, for children ages 6 – 12.
• Help ensure safeimplementation of all programs and activities. This involves but is notlimited to condition of equipment and facilities, age-appropriateness, abilitylevels, weather, appropriate use of equipment and supplies.
• Assist Childcare orProgram Director in supervising children within guidelines established by Boys& Girls Clubs of Delaware, and in compliance with applicable statelicensing regulations.
• AssistChildcare or Program Director in maintaining productive relationships withparents, school faculty and administrators and staff, and other visitors to theClub.

• Consistently adhere to the policies and practices of BGCDE OCCL and Delaware STARS.

Minimum Qualifications

Level I

• 18 years of age or older
• Must have School AgeSite Assistant Certificate

Level II

• 20 years of age or older and ability to drive 8 passenger van (must have valid driver’s license with less than 5 points)
• First Aid/CPR Certification, or completion of certification within two months of date of hire.
• Must possess a School Age Site Coordinator Certificate from the Department of Education

Level III

• Must possess a School Age Site Coordinator Administrator certificate from the Department of Education
• 20 years of age or older and ability to drive 8 passenger van (must have valid driver’s license with less than 5 points)
• First Aid/CPR Certification, or completion of certification within two months of date of hire.

**All Levels must be able to pass an FBI clearance, State ofDelaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per DelaCare regulations.

Environmentaland Working Conditions:

Environmental and working conditions vary from indoors to outdoors; various meeting locations in and out of the Club; occasional statewide travel (e.g., training).Employees are subject to transfer from one department to another and from one club/school site to another as the needs of the organization change.

Physical and MentalRequirements:

• Maintain a high energy level.
• Be comfortable working with childrenages 6-12 in varying levels of physical activity.
• Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objectsweighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities.
• Typically bends, stoops, walks and sometimes runs on a regularbasis while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day.
• Ability to perform duties effectivelyunder stressful conditions; ability to make decisions quickly and accuratelywith tact and impartiality.
• Ability to understand and follow verbaland written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and inwriting.

Work hours: Monday- Friday,
