Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of Maury County is seeking part-time youth program staff to execute hands-on activities for students from K-12th grade. You will help prepare materials, supervise groups, and guide youth toward the club’s three outcomes: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character.

Responsibilities include leading fun, educational activities, maintaining safety, and keeping accurate attendance records.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Some experience with children preferred.
  • Able to relate to youth and make activities FUN.
  • Teamwork, patience, and creativity required.
  • Reliable and punctual; attendance essential.

Responsibilities

  • Execute hands-on programs with youth focused on Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Citizenship.
  • Prepare youth for success and support development outcomes under supervision.
  • Facilitate fun and educational activities aligned with organizational goals.
  • Read lesson plans, prepare materials, and assist with day-to-day activities.
  • Maintain safety and proper conduct; enforce discipline per policy.
  • Build positive relationships with youth and mentor them.
  • Ensure safety policies are followed at all times.
  • Record attendance and complete timesheets and paperwork on time.

  • Responsible for executing hands‑on programs with youth focused on achieving 3 priority outcomes: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. Positions are available for all age groups, K-12th graders.

  • Prepare Youth for Success

  • Execute Club programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes, under the guidance of the Unit Director and Program Outcomes Directors

  • Facilitate fun and educational activities with kids, staying consistent with organizational goals and mission.

  • Read lesson plans, lay out materials in advance, and perform other tasks to prepare for day-to-day program activities.

  • Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).

  • Maintain control of the group. Demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of members. Implement discipline procedures when needed in accordance with the organization's discipline policy.

  • Form positive relationships with youth. Mentor, coach, and encourage them to believe in themselves and their dreams. Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate conduct at all times.

  • Keep members safe by following and enforcing all child safety policies and procedures in effect at your Club site.

  • Facility Maintenance

  • Ensure program areas are clean, safe, well ventilated and well-lit.

  • Make sure Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.

  • Clean your area at the end of each day.

  • Record Keeping

  • Take accurate attendance for each activity.

  • Turn in timesheets and other required paperwork on time

Additional Responsibilities


  • May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other club activities as necessary.

  • May be required to drive Club van or authorized automobile periodically.

  • May consult with parents concerning member and Club issues

  • Must work with predetermined group partner and be able to work as a team player with all peers.


Skills/Knowledge Required


  • High School diploma

  • Some experience working with children is required. Previous experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities with groups of young people is strongly preferred.

  • Must be able to relate to young people and control a classroom, while also making sure activities are FUN for the youth.

  • Teamwork skills, patience, and creativity are a must.

  • Must be reliable and punctual-kids will be counting on you! Must show up on time and be ready to give them your full attention.

Job Type: Part-time


Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour


Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week


Summer Hours: 25 or more
