Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to inspire and support children in before/after-school and day camp programs. This role involves creating a safe and enriching environment where youth can grow and learn.

You will lead fun activities, maintain safety, and offer mentorship, impacting families positively. The position offers flexibility with part-time hours and plenty of opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
  • Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
  • TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor children's safety and engagement during programs.
  • Foster a welcoming environment using positive behavior-management techniques.
  • Lead games and activities according to the YMCA curriculum.
  • Maintain a clean and organized program space.
  • Connect with families and school staff to build a collaborative community.
  • Follow all child protection policies and maintain vigilant supervision.
