Job summary

Centerforfamilylife in New York City is seeking a Youth Worker to support the Group Leader and help supervise participants after school and in community activities. You will engage children in sports, art, dance, homework help, and group activities, fostering positive experiences and group cohesion.

This role requires high school level education, a passion for youth development, teamwork, flexibility, and comfort working with diverse groups of youth, including those with special needs.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum education of being in high school or holding a High School Diploma.
• Candidates should have a strong Youth Development background.
• Must love children and enjoy working in groups and as part of a community.
• Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work well in a team.
• Interested in creating positive experiences for youth, including participants with special needs or challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Participate with children in activities such as sports, art, dance, and homework assistance.
• Help participants grow and develop as individuals and bond as a group.
• Support the authority of the group leader.
• Guide children’s development and help them relate to each other and to adults.
• Contribute to planning and execution of special events and other community-building activities.
• Attend weekly professional development meetings.
