Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a capable leader to oversee early childhood education programs across multiple sites. You will ensure licensing compliance, guide curriculum implementation, and supervise staff while promoting inclusivity and high standards.

Minimum 3–5 years supervisory experience in an early childhood or youth setting is required; knowledge of OCCL, Delaware Stars, and NAEYC Accreditation is preferred. A Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in a related field is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Licensing & Compliance: Ensure annual licensure of all program sites, meeting Delaware State Licensing regulations.
  • Program Management & Curriculum: Direct, manage, and coordinate all early childhood education programs for assigned sites; implement curriculum and assessments; conduct classroom observations and coaching.
  • Staff Leadership & Development: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise personnel and volunteers; provide professional development.
  • Operations & Administration: Manage supplies and budget; coordinate registrations, subsidies, billing with Registrar/Business Manager.
  • Quality & Accreditation: Maintain Delaware Stars quality rating; ensure NAEYC accreditation standards.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; 3–5 years supervisory experience; knowledge of OCCL, Stars, NAEYC; leadership and organizational skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Multilingual; Bachelor's (Master’s preferred) in related field.

Salary: $50,000– $55,000 per year. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Licensing & Compliance

  • Ensure annual licensure of all program sites, consistently meeting Delaware State Licensing regulations.
  • Oversee all required physical inspections, life safety standards, child and staff files, ASQs (Ages & Stages Questionnaires), and other compliance documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with state and local codes, laws, and regulations relevant to early childhood education.

Program Management & Curriculum

  • Direct, manage, and coordinate all early childhood education programs for assigned sites.
  • Implement curriculum and assessments; review and approve lesson plans.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching and mentoring to staff.
  • Ensure ADA requirements, inclusivity, and best practices are consistently maintained in the early education setting.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Support the Senior Youth Director and collaborate with Youth Development leadership.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise personnel and volunteers.
  • Provide professional development opportunities, coaching, and performance evaluations.

Operations & Administration

  • Manage curriculum supplies and equipment within budgetary guidelines.
  • Partner with the Registrar and/or Business Manager to coordinate new registrations, ProCare system updates, transitions, terminations, Purchase of Care (POC)/Early Childhood Assistance Program (ECAP) subsidies, and billing issues.

Quality & Accreditation

  • Maintain progress and compliance with Delaware Stars quality rating system.
  • Ensure ongoing standards for NAEYC Accreditation are achieved and sustained.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in an early childhood or youth development setting.
  • Knowledge of Delaware Office of Child Care Licensing (OCCL) regulations, Delaware Stars, and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in ProCare or similar childcare management systems preferred.
