Job summary

Marshall County 4-H is seeking a Youth Coordinator to lead Positive Youth Development initiatives with youth, volunteers, and professionals. You will plan, implement, and evaluate a progressive series of educational programs to develop life skills and civic engagement.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners, recruit and retain diverse volunteers, ensure safety compliance, and maintain data to measure impact. Regular evening meetings and weekend events may be required.

Qualifications

Team player with ability to work with minimal supervision.
Problem solving skills and organizational abilities are required.
Experience working with youth and volunteers is preferred.
Bilingual ability is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with partners to advance the Iowa 4-H mission and vision.
Develop and implement a year-round county recruitment and retention strategy for diverse volunteers.
Recruit diverse youth from entry-point activities into long-term involvement in 4-H.
Ensure compliance with risk management policies including background checks for volunteers.
Establish and maintain 4-H governance committees.
Promote 4-H state and county programs with local partners and media.
Communicate with the County Extension Council, families, volunteers, and community partners.
Represent Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Iowa 4-H professionally.
Collect, analyze, and share county data to show program impact.
Implement programs per state and federal guidelines and share results with partners.
Work with County Extension Council to secure resources.

Youth Coordinator

Objective

Iowa 4-H and the County Youth Coordinator will focus on Positive Youth Development (PYD). Staff will work with youth, volunteers, and professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate a progressive series of educational programs and experiences that work toward multiple life skill outcomes (productive citizens, outstanding communicators, effective leaders, and successful learners). This position should empower youth to reach their full potential through Youth Adult Partnerships and research-based experiences.

Represent Iowa State University, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, and Iowa 4-H professionally and positively.
Collect, analyze, and share county data to ensure program effectiveness.
Implement programs in accordance with state and federal guidelines and policies and share with volunteers and community partners.
Administer evaluations and share impacts with County Extension Council and partners.
Work with County Extension Council to ensure adequate financial resources are secured.

Job Type Full Time

Hours Full-Time (40 hours per week), hourly, regular position. General work week is 8:30-5:00 pm. Monday through Friday; however, regular evening meetings and occasional weekend events, and out of town trips will occur as scheduled.
