Job summary

Vertical View is seeking a part-time Clubs Instructor to lead youth climbing clubs in Meridian, Idaho. This role requires 5-10 hours weekly on weekday evenings, with Top Rope and Belay Takeover certification and Safe Sport training.

You will coach, mentor, and foster a welcoming environment for young climbers, prioritizing safety and fun. You’ll teach climbing techniques, monitor equipment and belay checks, and help kids set goals while growing their confidence and teamwork within the club.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 or older.
• Available 5-10 hours a week on weekday evenings.
• Able to coach on the same days each week.
• Top Rope and Belay Takeover Certified at our facility.
• Safe Sport certified.
• Previous coaching or instructing experience preferred; basic climbing knowledge required.
• Physical ability to belay and demonstrate climbing techniques; lift up to 25 pounds; stand/sit/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Lead youth climbing club sessions with energy and positivity.
• Teach age-appropriate climbing techniques, skills, and movement drills.
• Encourage goal setting, celebrate effort, and foster enjoyment of learning.
• Mentor youth and adapt teaching to different abilities and personalities.
• Maintain a safe climbing environment through supervision and rule enforcement.
• Ensure proper equipment fitting, knots, and belay checks.
