Job summary

Nexus-Woodbourne Family Healing is seeking Youth Care Professionals for our residential treatment center and diagnostic program. Positions include full-time and part-time roles with diverse shift options across day, evening, and night schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Youth Care Support: engage with clients, provide mentorship, supervise daily activities and behaviors.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, grooming, household upkeep, and laundry.
  • Ensure adherence to daily schedules including school, therapy sessions, and family visits.
  • Provide a supportive, trauma-informed environment and model respectful communication.
  • Develop daily schedules, activity plans, and safety protocols.
  • Foster inclusion and advocate for clients’ needs.

Nexus-Woodbourne Family Healing is seeking Youth Care Professionals to join our team!

We have a variety of full-time residential counselor positions available throughout our youth & teen Residential Treatment Center and our Diagnostic program. The residential treatment center offers emotional, behavioral, mental health, and sexually problematic behavior programs. The short-term (90-day) diagnostic (DETP) program serves male, female, and transgender youth who have been commercially sexually exploited.

Schedule: Hiring full-time and part-time Youth Care Professionals to join our team!

  • Day Shift - 6:00am - 2:30pm or 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • Evening Shift - 2:00pm - 10:30pm or 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • Night Shift - 10:00pm - 8:30pm or 11:00pm - 7:30am
  • Monday-Sunday
  • NOTE: The Work Schedule can vary

PAY: Increased starting pay rate- $18.00 - $21.00 per hour!

In addition to the base pay rate, employees are eligible for:

  • $1.00/hour added to base pay rate, after achieving and providing proof of the RCYCP certification
  • $2.00/hour for each hour worked in the diagnostic (DETP) program
  • $0.20/hour weekend shift differential for each hour worked on the weekend (Friday at 10:00pm through Sunday at 10:29pm)

Job Responsibilities:

Daily Youth Care Support

  • Initiates engagement with clients and provides safe interactions, mentorship, and supervision of their daily activities and behaviors
  • Monitors and coaches clients to achieve activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, household upkeep, & laundry
  • Ensures clients adhere to and engage in the daily schedules and activities established for the program, including school, therapy sessions, group sessions, external appointments, and family visits
  • Serves as a mentor and role model by demonstrating compassion and understanding for feelings and experiences of staff and clients; communicates in an honest, positive, and respectful manner
  • Plans and participates in the development of daily schedules, activities, treatment plans, guidance plans, and safety protocols
  • Demonstrates respect for individual differences and promotes an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences
  • Advocates for the client’s needs

Treatment Planning & Protocol

  • Administers medications and ensures accurate, compliant documentation within the client record as applicable
  • Maintains awareness of individual client phases, privileges, and restrictions and adjusts interactions in an objective and empathetic manner
  • Engages in therapeutic interventions with clients within treatment parameters, while always maintaining healthy and appropriate boundaries with clients and families
  • Engages in counseling sessions with clients and assists in the development of treatment plans as needed
  • Facilitates or co-facilitates educational groups that support treatment plan goals and therapeutic programming

Client & Family Reinforcement

  • Plans, participates, and successfully carries out off-campus client activities as designed while effectively managing the group and providing appropriate supervision of clients. Assists in the transportation of clients for home visits, doctor’s appointments, planned recreational activities, etc. as required
  • Fosters balance and accountability by creating safe space with clients
  • Engages with and actively listens to clients and families
  • Maintains a trauma-informed care approach when working with clients and staff

Client Safety & Agency Policy & Procedures

  • Reports signs and symptoms that may require intervention or referral; communicates observations of client suicidal or violent tendencies, self-mutilation, eating disorders, or chemical dependency
  • Prioritizes the client’s emotional and physical safety
  • Performs First Aid/CPR procedures and responds according to established protocols in the event of an emergency
  • Remains calm and demonstrates positive and effective de-escalation techniques and strategies in conjunction with crisis management training
  • Complies with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality for clients and their families
  • Completes all client-related documentation accurately and professionally (incidents, progress notes, etc.)

Agency and Team Collaboration

  • Maintains positive team interactions and actively participates in staff meetings while advocating for the needs of clients (and their families as applicable)
  • Partners and assumes responsibility in managing the milieu in the absence of the Milieu Supervisor as requested
  • Completes all required training, complies with company policies and procedures, and actively engages in learning, professional growth, and constructive feedback

Requirements

Education & Licensure

  • All client-facing Nexus employees must successfully participate and complete a (SCM) exam and training

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours)
  • Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility
  • All client-facing Nexus employees must successfully participate and complete a Handle With Care behavior intervention method exam and training
