Job summary

Nexus Family Healing - Austin campus is seeking a resilient Youth Care Professional to support youth in daily living and therapeutic activities. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care and compassionate mentorship in a residential setting.

Eligible candidates will help maintain daily schedules, participate in safety protocols, and advocate for clients while upholding Nexus values. A sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits are offered along with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities.
  • Pass MN criminal background check.
  • Complete Handle with Care exam and training.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients and provide safe interactions, mentorship and supervision of daily activities.
  • Monitor and coach clients to achieve daily living activities such as personal hygiene, grooming, and laundry.
  • Ensure adherence to daily schedules including school, therapy, group sessions, appointments and family visits.
  • Demonstrate compassion and communicate in an honest, respectful manner.
  • Plan and participate in scheduling, activities, treatment planning, and safety protocols.
  • Advocate for clients’ needs and maintain trauma-informed practice.
  • Adhere to privacy policies and complete client documentation accurately.

We are now offering a $500 sign-on bonus! The bonus will be paid out in 2 increments of $250, paid out on your first paycheck and at 90 days!

Schedule/Salary/Location:
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Pay Range: $18.50 - $20.00

Position Summary:

Our Youth Care Professional is responsible for providing reliable and timely support and reinforcement of all therapeutic programing by providing guidance and direction to clients in their daily living activities by utilizing trauma informed practices to maintain a safe environment, while ensuring the client’s needs are met.

Responsibilities
  • Initiative engagement with client and provides safe interactions, mentorship and supervision of their daily activities and behaviors according to established guidelines and procedures
  • Monitors and coach’s clients to achieve activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, grooming, upkeep of living areas and laundry
  • Assures clients adhere to and engage in the daily schedules and activities established for the program, including school, therapy sessions, group sessions, external appointments, and family visits
  • Serves as a mentor and role model by demonstrating compassion and understanding for feelings, and experiences of staff and clients; communicates in an honest, positive, and respectful manner
  • Plans and participate in creating daily scheduling, activities, treatment planning, guidance plans, and safety protocols
  • Demonstrates acceptance and inclusivity concerning individual commonalities and differences such as gender, race, age, culture, ethnicity, class, religion, disability, and gender identity
  • Advocate for the client’s needs
  • Engage in therapeutic interventions with clients within treatment parameters, while always maintaining healthy and appropriate boundaries with clients and families
  • Demonstrate and abides by the Empowering Restorative Engagement Model (ERE Model) and programming; directs staff in developing action plans, safety planning through the ERE model
  • Comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality for clients and their families
  • Complete all client related documentation accurately and professionally (incidents, progress notes, etc.)
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 Years of Age
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • A desire to work in the human services field & caring for at-risk youth
  • Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
  • Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
  • Must successfully pass a MN criminal background check
  • Successfully participate and complete a two-day Handle with Care exam and training.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to assist staff in physical interventions and restraints of clients
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours)
  • Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within a residential treatment facility
