Job summary

The Toyota Indiana YMCA in Evansville, IN is seeking a part-time youth basketball referee to support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. You will supervise activities for children aged 3-17, teaching proper techniques, dribbling, and shooting while engaging with parents to foster a positive experience.

Mandatory trainings include CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Bloodborne Pathogen within 60 days of employment, plus Child Abuse Prevention before the first day.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Bloodborne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment.
• Child Abuse Prevention training required before or on the first work day.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth and procedures for managing high-risk activities.
• Complete required abuse risk management training.
• Adhere to procedures for managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations; follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
• Teach through a skill-based approach with planned practices suitable for each team member.
• Welcome each child and their parents at the start of each class and support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
• Supervise players before, during, and after classes.
• Provide a safe and enjoyable environment with equal participation opportunities.
• Communicate with staff to promote proper sport-specific techniques.
• Coordinate with Basketball Coordinator or Sports Director with questions or concerns.
• Be a positive role model by following rules, showing sportsmanship, and coaching consistently.
