The position is hourly with flexible scheduling coordinated by Environmental Health staff, focusing on MLSA testing and precise documentation of findings. Confidentiality and clear communication are essential throughout duties.

Qualifications

• Must be 18, 19, or 20 years of age.
• Possess a valid Oregon driver's license or state-issued ID (contingent upon state approval).
• Ability to deal with the public in a pleasant, calm, tactful manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Able to follow directions and protocol precisely.
• Ability to recall events with great detail and document those events accurately.
• Reliability to work on scheduled days.
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct unannounced compliance inspections at tobacco retailers.
• Test retailer compliance with laws related to sale to under 21.
• Work with Environmental Health staff during inspections.
• Visit licensed tobacco retail businesses throughout the year.
• Document and report inspection results accurately.
