Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Omaha is seeking a Youth Sports Supervisor to support youth programs with positive participant experiences across multiple sites. You will supervise activities, ensure safety, and model professional conduct for families and staff.

Responsibilities include relationship-building, program oversight, and active participation in meetings and trainings. Requires 18+ and prior youth program experience; CPR/First Aid training is provided before shift.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in assigned program area.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working with children preferred.
  • Demonstrated maturity, sound judgment, and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours.
  • Complete before first shift: YMCA Cause & Culture, Program-specific trainings; CPR/AED/First Aid (provided by the YMCA)
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups and pass background check.
  • Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
  • Report suspicious behavior and adhere to abuse reporting responsibilities.
  • Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Site Supervisors impact the lives of youth and families through direct care, organization, supervision and well-being of participants in the sports activity. S/He assists officials and ensures quality programming and a positive experience for participants and spectators.

  3. 3. Exemplifies appropriate behavior at all times. Acts as a role model for participants and spectators.

  5. 5. Ensures site is safe by pro-actively managing risk and responding to first aid or other issues in a timely manner, reporting any issues per program processes.
  6. 6. Provides interpretation and demonstration to all participants, including those with special needs.
  7. 7. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  8. 8. Actively participates in department and branch meetings and trainings.
  9. 9. Performs other duties as assigned.
