Overview

Perform work outdoors in the yard: draining fluids and removing parts from vehicles in preparation for setting the vehicles in the yard.

Responsibilities

• Operate tire machine during shift to separate tires from rims.
• Remove all fluids, lubricants and components (e.g., converters) as required in a safe and efficient manner to prep vehicles for setting.
• Work primarily outdoors removing parts from salvage cars; parts may include quarter panels, doors, lids, hoods, axles, suspension pieces.
• Set vehicles in the yard as assigned and record information accurately and timely.
• Operate forklift or loader to assist in moving vehicles from process to the yard.
• Clean out debris from vehicles before they go into processing area.
• Pull batteries to be tested and resold, bring charged batteries to retail area.
• Work with loader operator to stage vehicles or pull vehicles in the yard properly.
• Walk the yard and place debris in the cars being removed from the yard.
• Dismantle tires.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Ensure all EPA and OSHA regulations are met.
• Wear all required PPE.
• Comply with established company policies and procedures.
• Initiate and support continual improvement of the company’s quality improvement system.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions with no coverage.
• Tolerate high and low temperature levels.
• Noise level moderately loud.
