Job summary

Builders FirstSource, America’s largest supplier of building materials, seeks a Yard Worker/Forklift Operator in Missoula, MT to move materials safely and serve customers efficiently. You’ll help maintain yard flow, load materials, and verify orders, contributing to a high-standard service level while complying with safety protocols.

You will operate forklifts, manage inventory, and assist teammates in a busy outdoor yard environment, adapting to weather and demand with reliability and attention

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months of related lumber/building materials/warehouse experience preferred.
• OSHA forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification as required by location.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with locating, retrieving, and loading building materials.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move products.
• Verify materials against invoices and customer orders to ensure accuracy.
• Organize and stock inventory to maintain a safe, efficient environment.
• Perform routine yard maintenance and housekeeping to keep the facility clean.
• Follow all safety standards and participate in safety meetings and trainings.
• Support team members with additional responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Do

As a Yard Worker, you will help maintain the flow of materials throughout our yard while delivering excellent customer service. Key responsibilities include:

• Assist customers with locating, retrieving, and loading building materials.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move products throughout the yard.
• Verify materials against invoices and customer orders to ensure accuracy.
• Organize and stock inventory to maintain a safe, efficient, and customer-ready environment.
• Perform routine yard maintenance and housekeeping to keep the facility clean and organized.
• Follow all company safety standards and actively contribute to a culture of safety.
• Participate in ongoing safety meetings and training programs.
• Support team members with additional responsibilities as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to changing weather conditions, equipment noise, and dust.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to climb into and out of forklift equipment and operate controls safely.
