Job summary

Penske Logistics is seeking a CDL Class A Yard Driver to operate within our Houston yard. You will move trailers, couple/uncouple, and ensure safe yard flow while delivering courteous service to customers.

Expected schedule is Monday–Friday with a 2:15 PM start. Benefits and company stability support professional growth, with home daily for most driving positions.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL and domiciled in the U.S.
• DOT medical card (non-excepted interstate) required.
• 1 year tractor-trailer experience in last 3 years or 2 years in last 5 years.
• 3 years DMV/MVR with <=2 moving violations or accidents.
• Follow all laws, regs, and safety guidelines.
• Regular, predictable attendance is essential.
• English language proficiency required by federal law.
• Background check and drug screening required; safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of dock as directed by leadership.
• Couple and uncouple trailers.
• Chock trailers as spots are loaded/unloaded and pull from doors.
• Support and manage yard flow as needed.
• Maintain high level of customer service while promoting safety culture.

• Earn $23.00 per hour with overtime after 40 hours

What you will do

• Yard driving responsibilities will include:
• Moving trailers in and out of dock as directed by leadership.
• Couple and uncouple trailers.
• Chocking trailers as they are spotted for loading and unloading and pulling from doors.
• Support and manage yard flow as needed.
• Maintain a high level of customer service while driving safety initiatives. Clear understanding of Penske's safety culture.

Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
• Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
• 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years required, or 2 years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the past 5 years
• 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
• Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• In order to be compliant with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)), this role requires English language proficiency
• Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
• This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

• The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
