Job summary

Penske is hiring Immediate Opportunities for Part-Time Class A Yard Drivers in the Chicago area. You will drive late model Penske trucks with safety features and earn an average of $40,981 annually, or $26.27 per hour with overtime potential for over 40 hours.

This role offers a 3-day work-week with home daily, plus a driver referral bonus program up to $5000 per referral. Scheduling is Thu–Sat, 7:00 AM starts, 4 days off weekly, with training and growth opportunities at Penske Logistics.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL; domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in state of residence.
• Non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required.
• 1 year tractor-trailer experience in last 3 years or 2 years in past 5 years.
• 3 years DMV/MVR with two or fewer moving violations or accidents.
• Follow all laws, regulations and safety guidelines; regular attendance required.
• English language proficiency required for compliance and safety.
• Schedule, location, background check and drug screening are required.
• This role is safety-sensitive under DOT rules.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of dock as directed by management.
• Couple and uncouple trailers.
• Chock trailers when spotted for loading/unloading and pulling from doors.

What you will do:

• Move trailers in and out of dock as directed by management
• Couple and uncouple trailers
• Chocking trailers as they are spotted for loading and unloading and pulling from doors

Schedule:

• Thursday through Saturday
• 7:00 AM start time
• 4 days off per week

Qualifications:

• Valid Class A CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
• Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
• 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years required, or 2 years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the past 5 years
• 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
• Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• In order to be compliant with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)), this role requires English language proficiency
• Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
• This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. Associates must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.

The associate must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
