Job summary

Metromont LLC in Spartanburg, SC, is seeking a Yard Truck Driver to organize trailers in the plant yard and ensure trucks and trailers are ready for loading, unloading, and transport.

The role includes attaching/detaching trailers, performing routine inspections, and following Metromont and OSHA safety rules. Schedule is Monday–Friday, outdoors with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous flatbed or tractor trailer truck driving experience preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.

Responsibilities

• Attach and detach trailers from switcher cab.
• Perform routine trailer inspections.
• Participate in company safety and observation programs.
• Climb on varying concrete structures.
• Spotter operation as needed.
• Maintain tire pressure, fluids, cleanliness, and complete daily truck inspections.
• Report maintenance issues to supervisor and document on daily pre-ops.
• Prep trailers for loading with proper timber/dunnage placement.
• Housekeeping of trailer storage area.
• Adhere to Metromont and OSHA safety regulations.

Yard Truck Driver

POSITION PURPOSE

The Yard Truck Driver works in the plant yard to organize trailers within the space and to ensure trucks and trailers are ready for unloading, loading, and transport.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attach and detach trailers from switcher cab
• Perform routine trailer inspections
• Actively participate in company safety and observation programs
• Required to climb on varying concrete structures
• Spotter operation as needed
• Maintain proper tire pressure, check for fluid levels, sanitize and clean daily, perform full truck inspection daily.
• Bring maintenance or service issues to supervisor’s attention and document on daily pre-ops
• Prep trailers for loading with correct timber or dunnage placement
• Housekeeping of trailer storage area
• Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety regulations and policies

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY

• No supervisory responsibilities
• Works with minimum supervision

WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE

• Monday-Friday
• Schedule varies with workload and location
• Unscheduled overtime may be required depending on production needs
• Non sheltered, outdoor
• Not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing for long periods of time, lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and bending, repetitive motion with medium force, and an ability to frequently climb up to 15 feet above ground using stairs.
